Natural Consequences

I was living with my father from about 14 to 17 years old.   I've been very lucky to have many situations in which my father's response to my actions were natural consequences related to my life.

One of many examples is regarding going to sleep and waking up. It was never an issue for me to be out late or anything like that.  While I don't remember a lot of the details, I remember at one point my father telling me that I could go to bed at any time that I wanted but I have to  get up at a certain time for school to be on time for school.

I've always appreciated natural consequences because it's been easier to understand my life's journey better that way.  I can understand a natural consequence better because it seems to be a shorter distance to my experience.

When people respond to others with unnatural or created consequences, there seem to be other dynamics going on or involved.

When I can see and feel natural consequences then I have a more direct relationship with cause and effect.

I could see a more direct relationship with cause and effect more easily which helps me understand the situation a lot better.
