Reducing Emotional Salt in my Wounds

When I was either a teenager, I think between about 12 to 15 years old, or younger, for some reason, I ended up jamming my finger in about 3 doors, one after another, a car door, a house door and another door.  My father sat down with me, I think in the kitchen, and had me soak my injured finger in warm water with salt.  In addition to the physical healing, my father told me one or more stories to help me feel better.  I don't remember the details about the stories.  But, the story in general continues to give me comfort and appreciation, about 3 decades later.

Thanks Pa.

I was diagnosed with Non-Verbal learning disability about 30 years after that experience.  I was familiar with the elements of my Non-Verbal learning disability, like my poor handwriting.  But I saw the various elements in isolation or separately.  The term Non-Verbal learning disability was new to me but referenced some examples of life situations. I wonder if jamming my finger was related to the Non-Verbal learning disability because it relates to my spacial interactions and fine motor skills.

Take it with a Grain of salt - the time that I jammed my finger in about 3 doors, car, house, and my father sat with me, telling me stories, while he gave me a cup of salt and water with it.
