Shakespeare coming out of left field

I was traumatized by experiences in school sports, with a few exceptions.  Thanks to my experience with Billy Wray in the 5th grade (see Wray of Support essay), and my experience with family and friends on a beach as a kid, I had a few positive situations with sports.

But my clumsy motor skills, disorientation or processing on the field was a different rhythm or pace than my classmates.

Then there's the awkward puberty feelings in the school locker room and one gym teacher's approach to exercising which had students engage in harder exercises from the last or previous one.

So all that added up to not wanting to deal with sports especially at school.

But at one point I found myself talking with other housemates at Mary Foust (residential college) about intramural sports.

I don't remember the details except that some classmates were putting together a baseball team for the dorm as part of the intramural network at UNCG at the time.

And I think I might have resisted an invitation to join at first. But, maybe someone said I can try it in my own way and leave if and when I wanted to.

I don't remember alot of details about that experience.  Except one time stands out to me.

There seemed to be a spirit of just having fun which lined up with my spirit too.

At one point I remember seeing a housemate from Mary Foust, doc Watson quoting Shakespeare in the middle of the field.  I love it I thought to myself.

What a wonderful thing for someone to express themselves freely and not being confined to a limited normal way that we're supposed to do something.

Later I learned I think that my housemate took on the name of doc Watson or he liked Doc Watson the musician.  I don't know.  But for some reason I thought that his name was Doc Watson.
